High End Entertainment in Las Vegas: Where to Go

Without question, there is plenty of entertainment in Las Vegas. Pretty well anything in Vegas can be considered entertainment since the definition of entertainment is fun, amusement, distraction, and performance. For those on their first trip to Vegas, the city can seem rather entertaining, in itself. The key, however, is to find the high end entertainment. But before we talk about where to go, first we must define high end entertainment.

Basically there are several ways to differentiate the better entertainment from the low end acts.

Although not all good entertainment is expensive, it generally remains that the better performances are always paid-for and even sometimes very costly while low end acts tend to be free just as a way for hotels to offer something to their customers.
Known performers and stars usually qualify as high end entertainment.
Luxury resorts with large promotional budgets and capital resources spend millions of dollars on light and water displays, animal and fish enclosures, wildlife conservatories, and magnificent gardens.
High end entertainment might also include car racing, sporting events such as boxing or ultimate fighting, niche shows like magicians, and attractions such as Hoover Dam, museums, and tours.

Given the extent of high end entertainment choices in Vegas, here are a few of our suggestions:

Generally speaking, if you visit any of the luxury hotel and casino complexes, you are going to find high end entertainment. Because the resorts are themed, each one will cater to a different taste. But, all the shows, exhibits and attractions will be top-notch. And some are even free so it might be possible to enjoy a display without staying at that particular venue.
If you are looking for concerts, premier sports events or championship boxing, then the MGM Grand Garden Arena is the place to go.
Most of the Harrah's properties bring in the best and better known celebrities. For example Céline Dion did her five year stint at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and Donny and Marie Osmond are presently performing at Flamingo Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is another great attraction, as it will be hosting the 2010 NASCAR Weekend, as well as the 2009 Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Race.
And not forgetting the younger tourists, Vegas has plenty to offer child audiences. Magic shows from Lance Burton and David Copperfield, pet shows, Cirque du Soleil, the Tournament of Kings dinner show at the Excalibur hotel, and lots of museums will keep them busy.

Finally, it would be a good idea to research Las Vegas high end entertainment before arriving in the city, as you will have more time to siphon out those attractions that are not as exciting or appealing.
